Humble Running Newsletter #15
1 YEAR of Humble Running! TRE is here!
I started up this little operation exactly 1 year ago today. Humble Running has grown quite a bit in this short time - we just passed 3,500 subscribers on the channel! Thank you for all of your support in following, subscribing, signing up for the newsletter, and most of all being so engaged across all platforms! Every bit does help and is very much welcomed - whether that comes as a cup of “Ko-fi” or a like or a thumbs up.. the smallest gestures all add up!
With The Running Event (TRE) coming up this week, I’m super pumped to keep the ball rolling into 2026. Please drop a note and let me know what you think about Humble Running so far. I welcome any and all comments, kudos, suggestions, criticisms, etc.

Hard to compete with the On Cloudultra Pro, but the “regular” Cloudultra 3 does a good job, and costs quite a bit less. It’s a great training option with perhaps range for racing if you want to be a bit closer to the ground. Check out my full comparison -
I decided to take the camera out for a quick hill interval workout session. The Nordlite Ultra Pro has a geometry that really works well going uphill, find out why here -
More uphills here, no intervals, just a steady climb up the street in the Merrell MTL Adapt Matryx. This is another one that just feels really solid and comfortable when the grade increases. I compare its geometry to the Nordlite Ultra Pro and discuss why they both work for hills.
Waist Belts are IN in 2025! Yes, I’m officially a convert, thanks to the quality of designs in this space. These are my personal "Best Running Belts” and I break down all the features and what I think are the best scenarios for each of them.
Another A/B/C test here.. one that I had in mind since I started testing both the Seek and the Roam from Keen. They’re clearly competitors in the wide toe box market segment against Topo and Altra. How do they STACK up against the new Vista? Each of these shoes are very similar, but there’s a specific feel and niche for each of them..
Finally got my feet into a trail running shoe from Lowa. Definitely an alpine-oriented shoe here, and a good one at that. I’ve had a bunch of fun runs in these and have a feeling they’re going to stay on my rotation rack for the upcoming winter months. Stay tuned for more Lowa testing in 2026!
THE RUNNING EVENT
I’ll be in San Antonio for TRE this week! This is THE event of the year if you’re a running shoe geek like me. Make sure you follow/subscribe/sign up for the newsletter so you can follow along with me. I’ll be posting content throughout the event and beyond! I’m hoping to expand my testing lineup in 2026.. LET’S GO!
IN FOR TEST
Kailas FUGA EX 330
This is one beast of a shoe - surely a contender for those very long and rugged ultra distances. TOR 330? Distinct feeling of cushion throughout, especially around the forefoot, and no sacrificing outsole grip and protection here! Full Review is coming soon!
FUGA DU 2
I’ve been working through the miles in the 330, so this on is on hold for the moment. It’s heavier, with a bit of built in stability for very rugged terrain. I’ll have full comparisons across the FUGA models I have in for test.
Nitecore Lighting & POWER
Lots of Nitecore tech and lighting in for test. UT27 and HC60 UHE headlamps, plus a 6K Carbon Battery Kit and NB10000 Carbon battery bank. Days are short now, so I’m definitely getting those night runs in.
Nathan Running Vests
I have not run in a Nathan Vest in a while. First off - these fit. In the past I’ve had problems getting a small enough size in Nathan vests.
These are some good, lighweight options for different scenarios, you’ve seen them in a couple of my videos here and here already. Full Reviews on the way.
Jogology Socks
Solid, no fuss running socks that you can also wear throughout the day before and after your runs? Jogology has you covered. Again, I’ve been wearing these in my videos.. they just.. work.
