Mount to Coast M1 - another one of the most anticipated trail shoes of 2026 - quite amazing coming from a brand that not too long ago didn’t make trail shoes at all!
Lots to dig into with these - of course check out my FULL review. Definite comfort fit and comfort cushion underfoot.. I put these through the ringer with some steep climbing and a burly off trail descent.
There may be limits in the most technical terrain, but are there any limits in terms of distance? Mount to Coast’s tagline is “Transcend Distance” right?

NNormal Cadí - For the People
“Kilian’s brand” finally comes out with a shoe designed for those with “not quite Kilian” feet.. I’ve been trying to get my feet into these for a while, and now that I finally have a test pair - they have not disappointed.
A big departure from NNormal’s Kjerag model - the Cadí features all around plush-ness, made to log miles in comfort. I was surprised to see some comments mentioning “firmness” underfoot, which has not been my experience. The wide base under the forefoot provides ample ground feel, so perhaps that could be what some are feeling.
If you were NNormal-curious, but perhaps not so sure about their more racy & precise-fitting model lineup, the Cadí might just be your entry point.
Salomon Genesis 2 & Kila Custom Insoles
This just felt like a natural pairing to me, with the Genesis 2’s ride seemingly leaning more towards mountain running than the previous V1.
The Kila Custom Insoles seem to add a bit of transition (and protection) around the middle of the shoe - enhancing the Genesis 2’s all mountain ride.
This was a classic route up in the Sawtooths, which you might have seen in a couple other videos.
A true mountain test in varied terrain, with scenery and views to match!
BOOM! Hitting the Road!
I’ve been feeling good these days, just in time to test out On’s new flagship road racer, the On Cloudboom Strike 2.
I may not quite be up to marathon racing speed, but I’m feeling good enough to start getting back into speed work, and boy, these do feel speedy!
They also look simply spectacular, featuring a full length Carbon Speedboard, and a unique drop-in upper midsole (Helion HF).
In this video I also discuss what makes trail “super shoes” different from their road counterparts. Hint- trail shoes have a lot more to deal with (DUH). But perhaps interesting to talk it through.
On has a stout road/trail super shoe combo here with the Cloudboom Strike 2 and the Cloudultra Pro. And perhaps the Cloudultra Peak for shorter distances? (more to come)

I’ve been loving my runs so far in the INOV8 Trailfly Pro (now available in the UK) - as discussed in this video - it has an amazing and for me, not felt before combination of very energetic foam and ground feel / flex up front.
I also just received my new size in the Hoka Tecton X 4 - I’m now at a US 10.5 (EU 44 2/3) in these - what I would call a full size up from true-to-size. They do fit well! Go back to this video to hear some thoughts on recent “supershoe” sizing.

I’ve been testing out some new apparel from Smartwool, including a refresher on socks. The shirts have been especially nice, and I’ve been wearing them for days at a time because I love the fit and look, plus merino wool does not retain odors. Check out my article for more details.

Tune in for my full review of the Speedland RX:LDVL. I can say that this is definitely my favorite Speedland shoe so far. The upper strap works much better for foot security - it’s great to see that now in one of their higher stacked models.

I did a 30km point to point run through forest, costal path and some tarmac on Friday and the Nnormal Cadi was excellent! The comments about firmness I find really weird. That shoe was so comfortable. I also took the Nnormal modular trail vest on that run and loaded it up to see how it felt and that is also a great product, you should try and get your hands on one.
