If you’re at least marginally paying attention to trail shoes these days, you hear “TPEE”, and it’s likely that your mind immediately thinks “norda 005”..
So let’s just get this out of the way - this is not the same TPEE foam in the 005.
Absolutely firmer in this variety, surely denser and more protective. I clearly get the sense that this is a shoe designed specifically for alpine terrain and ultra racing. But what are the benefits of the TPEE foam here..
Surely the weight is one - my US 10 (EU xx) test pair weighs in at 10.7 oz (302g). A very good weight considering the level or protection and durability you’re getting - both underfoot and throughout the upper.
This shoe looks and feels SOLID. No flimsy collars, paper thin uppers, missing overlays, or other weight shaving elements.
Vibram Megagrip also shows that Scarpa means business here. Stay tuned for more updates and testing - I definitely want to get this one out in higher ground and rougher terrain.
